Many people are in constant search for an effective treatment of IBS. IBS which means Irritable Bowel Syndrome affects a lot of individuals all around the world. However, a specific course of treatment has not been established yet.
The lighter side of it is that, many people who suffer from this kind of syndrome are able to find something that would eventually help them. Some are able to get rid of the symptoms through a special diet, some would be through a medication program, and some are able to control it with a combination of different procedures.
So what is the best IBS treatment then? The answer to that question would be subjective because it will depend on the individual on how he is able to gain control of the symptoms of IBS. It is important then that you take note of different procedures that helped people who are previous sufferers of IBS.
One of the major causes of IBS is food intolerance. This is the reason why a lot of people are able to gain control over its symptoms, by simply identifying the types of foods that is not well taken by their systems.
In most cases though, the types of foods that will trigger the symptoms of IBS are those that are high in fat. Dairy products and gluten also have this kind of effect on people. It is important then that you find out about what specific kinds of foods would trigger your symptoms of IBS.
An effective way to identify your trigger foods is to go through an exclusion diet. Such a procedure would involve cutting down on certain foods for a week, to see if there would be a marked improvement on your condition. Keep in mind though that you want to involve a nutritionist in going through this process, to make sure that you are still getting sufficient amounts of nutrients your body needs.
If you want to take it further, you can always go through food intolerance tests. All you need to do is find a reputable testing company in your place and let them conduct the tests. Such tests would usually involve testing your blood, hair, and your skin to identify the foods that would trigger the symptoms of IBS and then you will know which best IBS treatment is there.
There are also certain medicines and drugs that may be prescribed by your doctor to control IBS. In some cases, doctors would recommend anti-spasmodic drugs to calm the spasms in your gut, which will reduce the pain that you feel. If the symptom you are more suffering with would be constipation, then your doctor would probably prescribed laxatives for you.
Keep in mind thought that some kinds of laxatives may cause stomach cramps. In other words it is always best to ask your doctor every question you have in mind during your consultation, especially when he prescribes certain medications to you which you are not very familiar with.
Take note that when strong laxatives are used for a long span of time, they will eventually lose their effectiveness on you. Because of this, your bowel may even become more constipated that it previously was.
Another well known IBS treatment is through the use of fiber supplements. This method is somewhat safer than taking laxatives, especially when the supplement is manufactured with the use of natural raw materials.
There are other kinds of treatments you can find for IBS today. The ones mentioned on top are just some of the more popular ways of treating its symptoms. Whatever treatment you want to try, make sure to ask your physician about it to be always on the safe side.
