Permanent makeup is as its said, make up which is permanent when applied to a body or face. It is basically a cosmetic technique using the process of tattoos to create make-up effects. It has a few different names used, including dermapigmentation, micropigmentation, and cosmetic tattooing.

The procedure consists of a trained specialist injecting a pigment into the middle layer of your skin which is called the dermis. This then changes the colour of the skin in the areas applied. It is a process where a pigment is implanted within your skin, leaving a makeup effect which will last for about 3-5 years. The length of time it will last depends on the skin type, colour of pigment implanted in the skin, age and care of the enhancement. This can then be used on different parts of the body to apply different effects of makeup.

There are many different reasons for permanent makeup to be used. Some medical conditions can make imperfections in the body, such as loss of hair and scaring. Medical tattooing is one method of treatment that can help to get the look wanted by the client to have the perfect body for them again.

There are many ways in which permanent makeup can be used.
Eyeliner treatment can be applied to the eyes. Using treatment in the way means that it will not smudge, wash off or run when wet. Adding this treatment will help define the eyes and add subtle improvements on your eyes that look like your wearing makeup even though you are not wearing any.

Eyebrow treatment is another way in which permanent makeup can be applied to add instant lift, shape and look as if there are real eyebrows there. Definition of eyebrows can be applied through small strokes to the eyebrow and this is a great treatment for those who have lost eyebrow hair through Alopecia Areata and over plucking.
Lip liner and lip blend treatments are available for those who are older who have lost the definition in the lips.

Enhance and restore the breasts areola after breast surgery through nipple and areola reconstruction treatment. With patients recovering from breast cancer, nipple and areola tattooing is the only treatment to be able to replace the colour and create a completed effect.
Physical conditions can mean that this type of procedure is preferred as they could have a physical condition which means that applying makeup would be made difficult. Types of conditions include cataracts and arthritis.
Permanent cosmetic makeup is applied in the right places to help make someone look better and natural.
Specialized instruments are used to carry out the procedure to allow the colour to be applied in the correct layer of skin.

After the procedure has been carried out you would need time to heal, one the procedure has been carried out, it can look bruised in areas. After the effects have worn off, you will have the desired effect as colours seem darker after it has been done. The colour in the top layer of skin will begin to flake off as the healing process progresses on.

Allergies is another reason as to why someone may have this procedure carried out. Certain products can lead to your eyes watering and swelling.
Recovery time on the different processes vary, eyes can take anything from 24 hours to 48 hours, and lips can take in any excess of three to five days.

With any surgery comes with problems and complications. This procedure can cause soreness and swelling. It can also be very difficult to remove any of the medical tattooing makeup when it has been done.
