We are often overwhelmed with the discussions on healthy diet, healthy foods and healthy lifestyle; images of spinach or broccoli emerge in our thoughts at the mere mention of food list. No doubt, when we progress in years we are caught in the net of diseases and illnesses, and its then upon reflection we understand the necessity of a healthy diet.
Though each category of food provides nutrition, but there exists certain foods, which are a powerhouse of nutrients. While shopping for our grocery, we need to concentrate on organic foods, as they promote better health in contrast to their contemporaries. Buy non-starchy vegetables like spinach, carrots, broccoli or green beans. An occasional exotic food may add sparks to a regular food list.
Avoid foods that are processed or contain artificial flavors or ingredients. Such foods may contain toxins and jeopardize your health. Before purchasing eatables, always read the labels carefully. Choose whole grain foods instead of processed grain products, for example wheat spaghetti, dried beans, lentils and spinach pasta.
We use spices and herbs to make food interesting, however an extra indulgence into few would provide essential nutrients than their counterparts. Spices like Ginger speeds body metabolic rate and is effective in cases of nausea and vomiting. Mustard stimulates respiratory health. Garlic improves blood pressure and cholesterol levels and prevents flatulence. Turmeric, an antioxidant protects against cancer. Cumin flushes toxins out of the body, while helping the
digestion process. Cinnamon boosts metabolism and simultaneously used to cure diarrhea. Horseradish, Fennel, Allspice and Oregano aid in the digestion process and cures gastric troubles. While. Cayenne pepper and Tabasco sauce increase metabolism and fat-burning ability.
For a more holistic approach to health choose liquid oils for cooking instead of solid fats that contain unhealthy saturated and trans fats. Olive oil is always a good choice. Water, natural fruit and vegetable juices should be selected over sodas and calorie drinks with artificial sweeteners.

Low-fat sour cream, rice milk, turkey, fish, nuts and seeds, are well-liked across cultures and food markets.
There are plenty of nutritious foods readily available in the market to choose from, you can decide which one best suits your taste and fits your purse.
