Understanding How Our Mental Attitude Affects Our Looks

Did you ever notice how more active and happier people often look younger. Why is this so? When a person is living a fulfilled life they are less likely to get tied up with smaller stresses. Stress is impossible to avoid but it is possible to manage it better. As they continue to live an active life they are keeping themselves sharp and agile within their mental attitude and faculties. There are numerous creams and cosmetics which of course help the process on the exterior, and gorgeous bare escentuals natural make up to cover up, but there is nothing like a more youthful glow from the inside out.

Most of us have seen older people who still have a mischievous twinkle in their eyes. This is very charming and sets them apart from other people of their age group. However if we understand the aging process better it helps us to appreciate some important things we can do with our own mental attitude which will both enhance our looks and also our quality of life.

Simply put our neurons are non-regenerative. This means they do not divide to reproduce more of their kind. As we age, our brain cells of to reduce in size and in number. There can be the frustration of not being able to call to mind some things that we have learned or wish to remember, be it facts or occasions.

According to studies, stress does not only make you look older, it also accelerates the degeneration of your brain. Those of us who are easily stressed will have higher risks to cognitive impairment than those who are not. Now is the time to act. Take time to very honestly examine yourself and determine the best ways in which you can cope with the obstacles of the day. Visualisation helps some people. For example if you are in a work situation and having a stressful time because of your boss or a colleague, visualise yourself in a much nicer place. It may seem strange but can really work. Now when you go back to the stress it is no longer as big.

Ironically for some people who do not manage stress, it could actually take hours from your working day when managed. So even apart from remaining healthier mentally and appearing physically younger, there is another benefit to this. Breathing exercises can help, or even a quick breath of fresh air. Many simple things can help stress, some people try and like meditation which more and more doctors are becoming open about these days as they are understanding the benefits.

Of course there is no denying that there are substances which are created as a result of our lifestyle and environmental pollution. These substances which are called free radicals can damage our DNA and impede the production of necessary energy which can cause early cell death.

Although it may just seem like common sense, studies have shown that adequate sleep can help you think well. What happens when you manage to have regular, adequate sleep is it helps the brain collect different bits of information and have the correct interpretation of them.

So stay as active as possible, learn new ways to deal with stress, find hobbies for relaxation, of course eat good food and try to sleep with regular, adequate patterns.
