Vinegar like most foods contains a wide variety of nutrients. Most of which are in small concentrations. This provides a nice balance. Of course you dont take vinegar to be well nourished. Beta-carotene is in quite good amounts in vinegar. This is an important anti oxidant which basically prevents you from rusting on the insides. Beta Carotene is also a pre cursor to vitamin A. Think health for your lungs, immune system and all mucus membranes and that sums up beta carotene. This valuable nutrient is always included in the nutritional care of breast cancer.

Get your nervous system going.
The main nutrient of interest in vinegar is potassium. If you place your hand on a hot stove you will quickly receive a message in your brain which interprets the signal. Your brain then registers the fact that placing your hand on a hot stove is a really bad idea and fires a message back, and in a flash you withdraw your hand.

We dont even have time to think how this process works, and usually we dont need to know, just as long as we get the message. From the moment you place your hand on the stove a pump system starts working. Its an exchange system of sodium and potassium. This pump relays the signal through your nerves.

It works from every nerve in your skin and muscles to your brain.

In nature where there is an imbalance between two supporting nutrients, one will take up the void left by the other. In this case low potassium will result in higher sodium levels in your nervous system and you will not respond normally.

If you jump at the sound of a door slamming, if you are easily startled, then chances your nervous system is need of some help. There are many things that could be done, but the first is to increase your potassium to ensure your sodium/potassium pump is working properly. Using vinegar as your potassium source is simple and cost effective.

Your medications are safe.
Many blood pressure and heart medications such as ACE inhibitors advise not to take potassium supplements because the drugs are potassium sparing on the kidneys. But your food source vinegar is perfectly safe.

Note that all other diuretics deplete your potassium, so you will certainly need your vinegar

So sodium and potassium are equally important for your normal nervous system function. Our diets readily supply us with plenty of sodium via salt, but we can become depleted of potassium. Two of the best potassium sources are apple cider vinegar and bananas.
You have heard the expression that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole, really applies to vinegar. It performs so many useful health functions, many of which cannot be explained by potassium and Beta carotene alone. Nature is a great provider. All we need to do is look.
