The Secret Connection Behind Milk and Acne

Ever wonder why the milk industry changed their advertising message to “Got Milk?” There’s a reason why milk can no longer advertise their message as “Milk does a body good.” It’s because it actually does a body bad, REAL bad. Especially when it comes to acne.

This article you are about to read is a compilation of some studies proving the milk and acne connection. This is a no-nonsense article that gets straight to the point, so let’s begin. Because our cows are forcefully injected with hormones such as several sex hormones and bovine IGF. As a result, you are flooding these nasty, unnatural substances when you consume milk-based products.

According to Patrick Massey MD, PhD. from the Daily Herald: “Milk contains estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, androgen precursors like androstendione and other hormones. Some of these hormones are known to promote acne.”

And also in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, suggests that drinking milk might increase the risk of acne in teenagers. In this study, more than 47,000 women completed an extensive health questionnaire about their health and lifestyles. One topic addressed was their milk-drinking habits as teenagers and whether or not they had been diagnosed with severe acne.

The results showed that those who drank milk were more likely to develop teenage acne. Those who drank more milk had even a higher risk. And this isn’t isolated to just women.

A recent May 2008 study by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology “found a positive association between intake of skim milk and acne. This finding suggests that skim milk contains hormonal constituents, or factors that influence endogenous hormones, in sufficient quantities to have biological effects in consumers.”

Another study by the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health found a “positive association with acne for intake of total milk and skim milk,” and acne’s “association with milk may be because of the presence of hormones and bioactive molecules.”

Still need more proof?

Over two thousand people in a study published in the Souther Medical Journal (1949) also linked acne with milk consumption. Then in 1966 the American Dermatological association researched over a thousand people over a decade and found milk to be a strong acne promoter.

I don’t know about you but I would give up all milk even if it tastes good to finally have clear skin, especially when all these studies strongly suggest more acne as a result of milk. But avoid milk and dairy based products is only part of the problem. After reading these studies about milk it is also obvious that diet has a strong correlation to how much acne you get.

Despite what you heard from your dermatologist or doctor, diet and especially milk may be the strongest factor that leads to breakouts. Surprisingly, it’s not the oil and grease that causes acne breakouts as you were lead to believe.

You may feel a sense of relief especially if you always thought acne is mainly caused by genetics. But start eliminating milk as soon as you can, eat a good healthy diet, and take a good anti acne supplement as extra protection against future breakouts. You will be amazed at the results.
