Taking the Steps Necessary to Prevent Breast Cancer

If you have a family history of breast cancer, you need to make sure that you do the best you can to reduce your risks that you can control. The better you take care of yourself, the better chance you are of living a long and healthy life.

To begin with, you need to make sure that you exercise as regularly as possible. Women with low levels of physical activity and higher body mass index levels are at more than twice the risk of developing this disease-fifty percent is a huge percentage when it comes to your life.

If you choose to exercise on a daily basis, you will have a thirty five percent lower risk of developing a breast carcinoma than if you were to sit on your couch all day. Try working out for about forty five minutes a day if you are going to walk, or twenty minutes a day if you are going to do something more vigorous like running.

If you like to workout hard, or play sports, your risk will be considerably lower. Try participating in one of these ventures for about three hours per week, especially while you are in your reproductive years.

Next, try to each more unrefined seed foods, specifically fruits and vegetables. They are rich in phytoestrogens, which can reduce your risk of diagnosis by about four times.

You should consume whole grains, beans, nuts, edible seeds, fruits, and vegetables, including all of their seeds. Make sure that you consume high amounts of broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts, as unappetizing as this may sound to you.

Make sure that you eat plenty of carrots, tomatoes, and spinach as well. You may find some of the superfruits more enjoyable, including berries, cherries, and citrus.

If you can stay away from foods high on the glycemic index, you will be better off. This includes white flour, white potatoes, white rice, and sugars. These foods can trigger hormonal changed in your body, which can promote cellular growth in your breast tissues.

Try replacing these carbs with foods such as whole grains, beans, legumes, and things that are very high in fiber. Along the lines of your diet, make sure that you are eating healthy fats, instead of unhealthy ones.

This means avoiding omega-6 fats such as sunflower, corn, and cottonseed oils, and replacing them with omega-e oils, such as the ones you will find in fish, such as salmon, tuna, trout, etc. Olive oil is going to be much healthier than butter-these small dietary adjustments can make a big difference.

Next, make sure that you are getting plenty of solid sleep. It can be hard to get enough sleep with work stress, crying babies, street lights, and more competing for your attention at night. Professional studies have proven that women who sleep seven to eight hours a night have a much better chance of remaining cancer free, than those who sleep only six hours a night.

Last but not least, make sure that you learn how to manage your stress levels-this can be easier said than done. Ongoing stress can threaten breast-health, in large part, because it disrupts the natural daily natural rhythm of circulating hormones.

Cortisol is one of the main hormones related to stress, and related to breast cancer as well. It reaches its lowest level while you are sleeping, and reaches its highest level by the late morning.

However, when you experience stress, these levels will elevate, and remain elevated. This weakens your ability to fight off sickness and disease, in addition to giving you higher blood pressure, and an elevated glucose level.

If you learn to manage the day to day stress, you will be much healthier, and happier. You may want to consider cutting out unnecessary activities in your life, practicing relaxing activities such as yoga, or taking a little jog on your treadmill.

Try to adopt a more optimistic attitude, and make sure to take lots of deep breathes throughout the day. Plan fun activities for yourself, and do things that relieve stress on a daily basis.

If you do all of these things, you can be sure that your risks will dramatically go down, and your quality of life will improve. You do not have to fall prey to your family genetics-you can take control of your life today.
