Arthritis can be very painful and most people who have this disease can attest to that. Arthritis is a degenerative disease that affects the joints in the body. When one has arthritis, pain is your ultimate companion. The pain can be felt in the back, neck, hip, and knee or feet depending where the arthritis is. The pain is caused by the inflammation that develops around the joints. Aside from that, the pain can also be caused by daily wear and tear of the joint, the amount of damage to the joint by the disease, fatigue and most especially muscle strains due to movements that force stiff and painful joints to work. This pain can be relieved by taking some pain medication such as muscle relaxant or any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. These will help with the swelling and pain.
Arthritis will get worse overtime and will be harder to deal with even with medication. Some types of arthritis are non-curable and the treatment is focused on the prevention and minimizing the discomfort caused by pain and swelling. As people get older and arthritis gets worse, more complaints will be heard. But aside from taking medication, there are natural ways to prevent and minimize the pain.
Arthritis patients need to know what foods to avoid in order not to trigger the pain that is usually brought about by swelling. Some foods can cause the surrounding joint areas to swell and therefore trigger pain. Most of these foods are high in uric acid and an example of this is beans. As much as possible, avoid any kind of beans if you do not want to suffer afterwards. Have a high fiber diet such as eating raw vegetables and whole grains as these foods can help reduce inflammation. Drinking lots of water will also help in reducing swelling and therefore reducing pain as well. It is advisable then to increase your water intake as this also flushes out toxins in our bodies. Too much toxins is not only bad for the arthritis but for the whole body as well.
We all know that physical activities can trigger the pain because of overusing the joints. But there are certain activities that will improve the condition and minimizes the pain. These activities should be low impact to avoid extra pain and discomfort. Walking is one of the best exercises that ever existed. You can have a short walk daily. It will not only improve and strengthen the joints and muscles this is also good for your overall health. You might want to try water aerobics too if you are fond of aerobics before having arthritis. Your joints might not be able to handle the impact that normal aerobics offer. At least, when you are in the water, you will not have to exert that much effort.
Pain caused by arthritis can be dealt with naturally and as effective as taking medication. Eat the right kind of foods and avoid those that can trigger the inflammation. The key is always having a healthy lifestyle.
