Reasons For Hiring a Personal Trainer During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very important stage in a woman’s life. Most women tend to gain excess weight and develop complications during child-birth due to lack of exercise. But exercising during pregnancy must be done carefully as any strenuous training will affect the mother and the baby. A personal trainer suggests easy but effective exercises for the mother thus reducing the risks to a minimum. Strength training and cardiovascular activities done during the pregnant months prepares the body for the delivery.

A personal trainer makes exercise plans after consulting a trained gynecologist or an obstetrician to avoid any hazardous exercises for the mother. So it is better for a pregnant lady to have a trainer instead of trying to exercise herself. Proper exercise alone can remove or minimize most of the common problems related to pregnancy like back aches. Exercise also prevents the mother from becoming overweight during pregnancy and helps regain her pre-pregnancy shape with ease. Some exercise plans also extend after the delivery to get the mother back in shape and lose the weight gained during pregnancy.

Pregnant exercisers are basically classified into two groups – one with women who have previous experience with exercise and another one who are relatively new to exercise. Women who already exercise before getting pregnant may continue the same activities as long as it does not create any kind of discomfort. Some regular guidelines are to be followed like not lifting heavy weights over head or putting the head below the heart. A personal trainer gives a detailed list of dos and don’ts for the lady to follow in her regular exercise plan.

Some mothers exercise for the first time only during their pregnancy to avoid gain excess weight. A personal trainer is very important for such women as exercising on their own may prove dangerous for herself and the baby. Apart from effectively preventing gain of weight during pregnancy, a proper exercise plan when followed sincerely also prevents back aches and reduces muscle tension. Exercise is proven to improve circulation for both the mother and baby and increases the energy level of the mother. The constant fatigue associated with pregnancy can be avoided by regular and supervised exercise.

Some precautions must be taken during exercise as a pregnant woman is at a risk of a premature labor. The pregnant woman must never exercise to exhaustion and must stop exercising when she feels out of breath or has any difficulty in speaking. Exercises that may even cause a mild abdominal disturbance should be avoided completely. This includes all kinds of bouncing exercises commonly attributed to aerobic exercises. Specific care must be taken to observe the breathing pattern. The mother must breathe normally during exercise.

Generally exercises are reduced after 12 weeks of pregnancy. The lady may find the same exercises more challenging to the increasing body weight. A personal trainer will teach certain stretching exercises to do before and after the exercise to make it easier for the pregnant woman. Women may find their joints are much more flexible during pregnancy due to joint laxity. The trainer takes care to stretch the joint only to the normal amount and not more than necessary. Rest is important as exercise for a pregnant woman. She is generally advised to exercise three times a week for her body to relax properly. Maintaining proper posture through out the exercise routine as it strengthens the pelvic muscles and the backbone which eases child-birth. The woman must feel comfortable in talking about any strain or changes in her body with her trainer. A personal trainer is a must for every pregnant woman to improve her fitness.
