It is important to identify first the specific causes the anxiety attack before finding a suitable solution. Environmental stressors like work, traffic, family relationship, people who are hard to deal with or a difficult situation can be a source for anxiety attack and panic disorder to occur.

While other causes can include phobias that people likewise experiences. Examples of phobias include the fear of heights or acrophobia, the fear of spiders or arachnophobia or the fear of closed spaces or claustrophobia.

Environmental stressors and phobias can trigger for anxiety to attack to occur without a warning. Most people handle these situations pretty well and if fear strikes them they can immediately regain control of themselves.

However, concern arises for some people who cannot handle the stress and they fail to adjust accordingly to the situation. Their usual reactions are negative. It is in this instance that treating anxiety disorder or panic disorder must be done soon. Failure to treat it can mean bigger problems later on.

In the case of the environmental stressors as the identified source of panic disorder the best way is to remove the stressor in their presence or just allow them to get away from them. One such advice if this happens is to go to a quiet place and try not to think about it. Instead try to think of a happy situation like a child’s birthday or a family vacation.

The important thing is to try to block off temporarily those negative and stressful thoughts and concentrate on something that makes a person happy. This can give the person the necessary bearing in order to regain balance and composure. Once he has taken control of himself he can now rationally deal with the situation.

In the case of phobia, it is better to seek professional medical advice. Doctors and other professionals are trained in handling this kind of a disorder. They can recommend therapy or prescribe drugs or herbal adhd.

However, for anxiety attacks or panic disorder without known causes or causes that are hard to identify below are some practical suggestions:

Although this may sound impossible at first especially knowing that the person is already on the verge of being stressed, relaxing might just work. Trying to be composed will allow the person to think rationally of possible solutions that can be used. The solutions are always in the hands of the person so if he can deal with it rationally so much the better. Some exercises that can help them relax is deep breathing.

Deep breathing will require a person to take a deep breath and hold this for a couple of seconds then slowly exhale. The effect of this effort can be felt immediately because the body tends to relax and be comfortable. And when the person feels that their arms are tightening learning to control the muscles and force it to relax is also a good technique.

Another practical suggestion is to tell the mind that everything will be alright. That there is no need to worry as this problem or concern will soon fade away and all will return back to normal soon. This is related to practicing having a positive mental attitude.

People should learn to accept that panic disorders and its symptoms happens to everyone. Learning to convince that they are in perfect control of the situation and there is no need to panic is a good way to start. This will also require the person to accept the things that they can change and the things that they cannot change. This is part of being proactive.

The above suggestions are self help techniques that may help in treating panic disorder. But a word of caution before people do any of the above suggestions it is better to consult first with their doctors for a more specific advice. They are properly trained to handle such kinds of cases.
