Microdermabrasion Treatments Rejuvenate Your Skin

Advertisements

Microdermabrasion treatments can make your skin look healthier and more youthful. These treatments have become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures today because of the results they deliver combined with their affordability.

These treatments are given at spas, dermatologist offices, and plastic surgery clinics. Normally, more than one treatment is recommended in order to get permanent results. This is especially true if you want to reduce wrinkles or age spots. If you just want to freshen your look and make your skin glow, you will see those results after a single treatment.

Microdermabrasion treatments can be taken purely for beauty reasons, as a way of exfoliating the skin, or they can be taken to reduce wrinkles, acne scars, or age spots. The goal of these treatments is to remove the top layer of dead skin cells and let the new, healthy skin show through. Microderma exfoliates and polishes the skin while stimulating it to grow new healthier skin that has improved elasticity.

Microderma treatments are given with a small device that has two openings. One opening directs tiny crystals onto the skin which provides the exfoliation. The other opening provides suction the draws up dead skin cells and the crystals. The device is passed over the area of skin to be treated. Any part of the body can receive microdermabrasion treatments, but the most common is the facial area. It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete a facial treatment.

Microdermabrasion treatments rarely have complications. There is the possibility of the crystals accidentally entering your eye and causing irritation. There is also the slight risk of skin irritation. However, for the most part, this procedure is very safe if administered by a trained clinician. If you have a skin condition that makes your skin overly sensitive, like acne or rosacea, you may be at a higher risk of skin irritation from these treatments.

After you have received a microderma treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to chemicals and the sun. You should wear sunscreen to protect your new delicate skin and use a gentle moisturizer to keep it well hydrated. Your skin may be a little tender and have a pink tinge after treatment, but there is no recovery time needed. You can leave the spa and return to work or your usual activities.

The cost of these treatments will vary according to the facility you visit. Generally, treatments from a plastic surgeon or dermatologist will cost more than treatments from a day spa. The usual cost of a single treatment is from $100 to $200. If you require several treatments for scar removal or other medical condition, your doctor may be able to arrange medical procedure financing so you can pay for your treatments in monthly installments.

Microdermabrasion treatments are popular for good reason. They are gentle to your skin, much more so than the old dermabrasion methods. They produce excellent results, even after one treatment. You can look refreshed and glowing as a result of removing the top layer of dead skin. There are many benefits to having these treatments and no real drawbacks as long as you can afford the price.
