Looking Your Best After a Long Flight

Have you ever flown across the country to meet someone you love, only to step off the plain looking tired, disheveled, and greasy? This can be very frustrating, especially if it is someone you have not seen in quite a while.

However, there are a few things you can do to spruce up your look, and keep yourself looking fresh and gorgeous for the person waiting at the baggage claim. First of all, make sure that you get plenty of sleep the day before you travel.

Pay attention to the hours that you will be flying, and synchronize your sleep time to correspond with your flight. This may require going to bed early, or staying up a little later than you normally do, depending on when you are flying.

In order to survive long flights you have to prepare. You might want to bring your own pillow on the plane, or ask the flight attendants for some.

You can bring a pillow as an actual carryon, and even a blanket. They usually provide you with little tiny ones, but no one can guarantee how sanitary they are.

It will be tough to get a window seat, so in order not to be disturbed by the person next to you, ask them if they need to get up for anything. This will lessen disturbances by them getting up and squeezing past you.

If you are trying to sleep, it is certainly annoying when someone is waking you up twenty minutes with a spastic bladder. As much as you want to look totally hot, try to wear, loose comfortable clothing.

You want to feel as relaxed as possible, so your mind is more at ease. This will also reduce shifting in your seat to get comfortable.

Ear plugs can help you fall asleep faster, or if you just some want peace and quiet, it can help to drown out the screaming baby a few rows back from you. Remember that tired travelers get tired because they are fatigued after sitting so long in flight in one spot.

To combat this, your body needs a little energy, namely from food and drink. When you are in the airport or before you get there, you want some energy in your system.

Try eating foods full of carbohydrates, proteins, and a little glucose. Fruits are always great to eat, they have energy your body needs and natural sugar.

Whole grains are good to eat as well, but you do not want to eat too much of it. Eating a lot of starches can make you sleepy.

Real fruit juices are great as well. Trail mixes are a good source of energy.

Dried fruit mixes, cereal, and granola bars are packed with energy and take up very little space when packing them in your carry-on luggage. If you eat salty food though, it will make you thirsty-not to mention make you retain water.

The flight attendants should be able to provide free drinks like water and juice. Eating the right foods are important to surviving long flights.

If you do not want to sleep or cannot sleep on the plane, try to keep your body loose and limber. This helps to keep your body relaxed.

Get up and walk the aisle if you can, and stretch your back and legs. The more stretched out you stay, the better you will feel at the end of your flight.

If you are flying in a charter or a private jet, you will probably have more room to be able to do a little stretching. Take advantage of it.

Right before your plane is going to begin its final descent, splash cold water on your face. This helps to tighten up the skin on your face so you look less haggard and rundown when you step off the plane.

Rest your eyes. There are a lot of bright lights on during your flight that can mess with your eyes. Try wearing a cap or a visor to keep your eyes shielded.

If your eyes are in the shade, they will work less. This is key to keeping your eyes looking well rested.

Massage your temples. This calms your head as well as relieve tension you might have.

Once you land, freshen your makeup, spray on a little perfume, hit the bathroom, and you are ready to go. Let the happy reunions begin.
