Laser hair removal treatment is an excellent way to reduce the amount of unwanted hair you have on your body that bothers you. These treatments are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are touted as being for permanent hair reduction. To remove as much as possible you need to schedule multiple treatments. One or two treatments is generally not enough to achieve the results that you are hoping for.
A laser hair removal treatment is performed by a professional who has had training in this area. A handheld laser device is applied to the skin. This device sends out pulsed light and seeks to find the dark color or pigment of hair. Once it finds it it then sets about impairing or disabling the follicle. Within 10 to 14 days following the treatment hair should begin to start falling out. This varies from one person to another.
Before you schedule your first hair removal treatment it helps to understand that hair grows in cycles. There is the growing stage (called the anagen phase), the intermediate stage (known as catagen) and the resting/shedding stage known as telogen. The growing phase is what hair is in 90 percent of the time (1000 days or more). The intermediate stage takes around 10 days while the telogen phase lasts around 100 days. At any given time approximately 10 percent of follicles are in the intermediate and resting stages. In other words, they are not growing.
Due to the fact that all of the hairs you wish to get rid of is not in the same phase at the same time that is why multiple treatments are required to be most effective. The laser needs to go to work on the hair when it is in the growing stage in order to be successful. If you are hoping that one session will do it and you do not have the time or the money to commit to multiple sessions then hair removal is something you should put on the backburner of your life until a later date.
Laser hair removal treatments can reduce the unwanted hair you have in a specific spot on your body by anywhere from 40 to 80 percent. You may not get rid of all of the hair and you still may need to wax or shave once in a while but it will make a great deal of difference and you are likely to be pleased with the results.
There are different types of lasers that can be used to reduce and remove hair from the human body. When it comes to some of the lasers used even a small amount of growth is enough for a laser treatment to take place. Even if you have a little bit of stubble from hair that has recently been shaved the laser can still work.
Laser hair removal treatments are sometimes considered superior to having electrolysis done because large areas can be treated with the laser all at once. This is the opposite of electrolysis whereby each individual follicle must be treated separately.
