If you are interested in getting in shedding pounds of extra weight while building strength, you do not have to resolve to forms of exercise that are boring.
Try jumping rope-this is a very popular way to get the body you have always dreamed of, while having fun doing it.
One of the biggest draws to this form of fitness is how inexpensive it is. Chances are, you already have a jump rope or two laying around your house somewhere.
If you do not, they are only about ten bucks, at any store. When it comes to exercise equipment, you cannot beat that price!
You can do it pretty much anywhere-whether you want to exercise in your backyard, your living room, or take your rope down to the local gym, the possibilities are endless.
Make sure that you have either a hardwood floor, or something that is rubberized to work on. Thick carpet can be tough, though thinner kinds are more doable.
You can burn very large amounts of calories in a very short amount of time-just ten minutes of vigorous jumping is equal to about thirty minutes of jogging, if you can believe it.
It is perfect for the person who travels frequently, as you can take your exercise with you on the road.
You do not need to skip workouts just because you are out of town-you can enjoy staying fit no matter where you go-all you need is a little bit of room in your suitcase!
You can even get the whole family involved. Because it is fun, you may find it easy to get your children to get outside and jump with you, instead of sitting in front of the TV or computer.
Make sure that you purchase the right rope lengths for each member of your family, so that you will all be comfortable. Once you have the proper equipment, you can start to train and design an exercise plan.
To begin, make sure that you hold the handles firmly in your hands, and keep your elbows tucked in closely to your sides. Start by making very small circles at your wrists to turn the cord.
Relax your torso, and keep your head lifted and focused on a point, to keep your balance steady. Make sure that you jump high enough only to clear the rope, and not so high that you could fall.
To practice your skills, you may want to start out on a trampoline. This is a good way to build balance and ankle strength, so that when you are the ground you will feel more comfortable and natural.
Make sure that you always land softly on the balls of your feet-wear the proper shoes whenever you practice, to protect your feet and keep them supported at all times. Focus on your form to begin with, not your speed.
As you get better with your technique, you will be able to gradually increase your speed. Once you are ready to begin a kind of program, start by creating a three-week schedule for fitness.
Always begin by warming up properly, so that you do not injure yourself in any way. You could try jogging or marching in place for about five minutes.
Once you workout is done, make sure that you cool off for five minutes as well, allowing yourself to stretch each of your muscles, so that they do not build up too much lactic acid.
During the first week of your program, make sure that you practice your bounce step, using an interval training method.
Try to jump and rest at a 1:2 ratio. Depending on how quickly you pick it up and how conditioned you are, start with around five to twenty five consecutive jumps each work period.
Make sure that you stop, rest, and start jumping again for a total of about three to five minutes. Do this three to five times during this first week-it should become easier each time.
During the second week, begin increasing your number of hops. Switch to a 1:1 ratio, and repeat your intervals for about five to six minutes at a time.
Do this several times during this week, and try to work up to being able to workout for two to three minutes without any kind of stop. During the third week, you can keep a higher pace, at about two hops per second.
The harder you work, the better your results will be. Have fun with it, and make sure that you are flexing your muscles as you go-jumping the pounds off has never been easier.
