The common trend in America today when it comes to food is frequently composed of fast food meals, chips, pre-packaged foods and similar products. As a result, the rate of obesity and overweight individuals is very high. This is because these food choices are filled with sugar and fats. The greater American population has opted for foods that are more convenient to eat and would not take much effort in terms of preparation. The new theory is that there is a certain balance needed in our digestive tract that can provide dieters of a healthy weight loss, specifically they have been pointing out to the number of bacteria that should be present in it.
At the time when we were born, there were countless bacteria that have been living in our digestive system. In as short as two years, they have been well versed on how to complete various bodily functions including that of digestion and production of vitamins. We will delve into knowing which of these bacteria has been responsible for causing weight gain or the other way around.
In our digestive tract there are two types of bacteria namely the bacteriodetes and firmicutes. They are responsible for numerous body functions including that of caloric extraction on the food that we love to eat. Scientists have delved into this angle to find out how these microscopic masses affects people of a healthy weight loss or weight gain.
There were some studies made on humans. The other was found out to have more number of firmicutes and the other with more bacteriodetes. The first specimen has been able to extract more calories than the second one even though their quantity on foods is evenly distributed. Hence, it has been noted that a person with more firmicutes on their digestive system is inevitably going to grow bigger in weight because of their high absorption of calories.
Another study was made for people who have been starting lose weight. Surprisingly, the participant who has started out with mostly firmicutes and engaged in a strict weight management program began to grow more bacteriodetes as the pounds are shed off. This explains why people with leaner frame have more bacteriodetes as well as justification why people with a sedentary lifestyle continuously added up on the pounds.
These researches are still fresh and require further studies to turn it as a possible solution for weight related dilemmas. If it is indeed through the right balance of digestive tract bacteria then dieting and exercise may become less of a requirement in acquiring the desired weight.
At the moment, it is still through the traditional means of losing weight can one attain the perfect weight and health. Eat the right kinds of foods and have at least thirty minutes a day for any physical activity or better yet an exercise regimen.
