The practice of using herbal remedies preceded modern pharmaceuticals. Many of the medicines we use today originated with various plants and herbs. Modern techniques have improved on the form and mode of transmission so that common medicines are more accessible to the public. But, there is something to be said for natural solutions.

Menstrual Cramps

It is the monthly cross that women have to bear. From the time of puberty until we reach menopause, most women will have a menstrual cycle each month except during pregnancy. For many women and young girls, the cramping of the uterus can prove to be debilitating each month. Here are some home remedies to combat menstrual cramps and get you moving again.

* Eating certain vegetables before and during menstruation can lessen the pain from the spasms. These are not the usual veggies eaten but on the bright side, you get to try a new taste. Papaya, white pumpkin, and bitter cucumber are among the strange vegetables that can help.

* Sesame seeds are surprisingly helpful when it comes to relieving menstrual pains. Mix some sesame seeds in a glass of water twice a day for pain. Boiling allows the seeds to steep. Strain them out before drinking the water.

* Heavy blood flow can lead to anemia. Eating iron-rich foods can stem the tiredness and rebuild the iron in the blood to replace what is being lost.

* Pain and excessive bleeding can be alleviated by boiling coriander seeds in water. The drink is not too tasty but good for the pain.

* Eating bamboo leaves are good for stopping menstrual pain. Regular consumption can regulate irregular periods.

Menopause

Menopause is the period of a womans life that follows the end of the menstrual cycle. It can be fraught with hot flashes, irregular periods for a year or so, sexual changes, skin changes, hormonal changes, and the feeling that you are losing your mind. Pills can help but many women do not want the side effects. So they turn to more natural remedies.

* Phytoestrogens help maintain the level of estrogen in the body. During menopause these levels drop. A good source of phytoestrogens is soybeans. Increasing the consumption of tofu, soy milk, soy nuts, and other soy-based products (live vegetarian meatless meals) will raise those levels and help with the symptoms.

* Many doctors are prescribing substances like black cohosh, alfalfa, and wild yam to help with the hormone levels in the body during menopause.

* Increasing the amount of vegetables you eat each day will help with hot flashes. The veggies that provide vitamin C and fiber such as beets, broccoli, beets, fruits, berries, whole grains, and flaxseed are full of good things that are not only healthy to the body but also will lessen the symptom of menopause.

* Calendula and aloe Vera handle the matter of vaginal dryness during this phase of life.

Muscle Pain

Everyone has had to deal with pain at one time or another. It can be from exercise, work, stress, or an accidental injury. No matter the source, muscle pain can be hard to deal with. Back pain especially is a problem because our back, combined with our abdominal muscles, makes up our bodys core. The core stabilizes the entire body and keeps us balanced. Pain in this area is not a pleasant thing to experience.

Here are some home remedies to work on all types of muscle pain you may experience.

* Soak the area in witch hazel or an infusion of chamomile to release the pain and unknot those muscles. Witch hazel can be purchased in the store. Try Epsom salts for sore muscles as well.

* Lavender is a relaxing flower. Lavender oil is helpful for relaxing muscles when used during a massage.

* Eating garlic every day can help to heal a sore back. If you are worried about bad breath, combine lemon juice and salt for a backache stopping drink.

* Exercising those muscles is one way to keep them from every being a problem. A strong lower back and abdomen will resist pain and injury from daily activities by maintaining correct posture when sitting, lifting, standing, and bending.

* Eucalyptus oil rubbed on the site of pain works to ease the ache.

Hangover

It is sad but true that many of us celebrate and make merry way to much sometimes. The next morning we are still feeling the effects of our good time on the hot town. Instead of popping a few aspirin and putting a pillow over your head or drawing the shades, try the list of remedies below to ease the banging in your head.

* I was always told that to avoid a hangover, do not drink on an empty stomach. When you do the effects of the alcohol are more immediate and intense. If you spend the evening sitting at a table imbibing, as soon as you stand up you will fall over.

* Eating fruits like bananas and kiwis the morning after can get rid of that hangover. A glass of citrus fruit juice will help if you do not have bananas or kiwis around.

* They tell you to drink coffee and it is a good idea. The caffeine will restore your right mind. Chocolate contains a mild amount of caffeine and it can be used as a substitute for coffee if you do not drink it.

* Dehydration is a result of drinking alcohol all evening. Drinking water before you indulge and before going to sleep will hopefully stop a hangover from forming.

* If you can stomach it, eat eggs and toast for breakfast. After a night of nothing but alcohol, you will need some nourishment to calm your stomach.

Try Homeopathic Medicine for yourself and see why people are using it to improve their lives everyday.
