Being afflicted with cough can both be embarrassing and incapacitating. You cannot concentrate on whatever you’re doing and you find it quite embarrassing every time your cough gets out of control. Continuous coughing is very tiring and your body could easily get tired from all the stress. There are various over the counter medications available that have been proven effective in the treatment of recurring coughs. However natural remedies can be found right out of your kitchen and it only needs a little patience before you will be able to reap their long lasting effects.

Lemon is very effective for chronic cough. You can add several dashes of white or black pepper to a sliced lemon and to take its juices to relieve yourself from constant coughing. You can do this thrice each day or until you feel more relieved. Consuming grapes is also one easy yet effective alternative, since grapes act as a natural expectorant. If you feel that a cough is about to start, gargle several times each day with salt and water. Make sure that the water is salty enough before gargling, as this will make the mucus easier to cough out. Carrot juice is also best served warm rather than cold throughout the day.

You can also mix honey with pepper and take this concoction like a cough syrup several times on a single day. Finally, you can try vapor inhalation for a natural and relaxing cough remedy. Simply boil mint and eucalyptus leaves together in a pot, and once you take this out of the heat, you would have to inhale its vapors slowly and deeply. Do this for several times until you feel that you are already breathing easier. This remedy is also best for children, since the mint and eucalyptus both promote better relaxation and sleep when an individual is afflicted with cough.

There are many other home remedies you can use when you suffer from cough. The good thing about home remedies is that the ingredients are available at home or at the closest market near you and you don’t need to bother yourself to much when you want to prepare them. Some of them you can even be used as they are with no need to mix, boil or cook.

There are some good and easy-to-make ideas for home remedies you can make yourself, just open your pantry and check which one is easier for you to make.

Then you should choose the one home remedy that works best for you.

1. Mix Soda water with milk and drink.
2. Chop 1 garlic clove, put on a slice of bread and eat.
3. Oregano leaves are very effective for cough. Chew 3-4 oregano leaves.
4. Mix 1 teaspoon of olive oil with 1 teaspoon of honey, and eat.
5. Onion mixed with honey is a well known remedy for cough.
6. Gurgle apple cider vinegar a few times.
7. Drink chamomile tea with honey.
8. Squeeze 2 lemons and drink the lemon juice. You can add honey to make it taste better.
