The everyday hygiene and cosmetology of the hair on the human head is what hair care is all about. Everyone is different, requiring various methods of treatment because of dryness, excessive moisture or sun damage.
You can cut and style it in many different ways. It can be dyed different colors, streaked so that more than one color is present at the same time, curled or straightened. There are several places you can go to get work done, such as salons, barbers, spas and personal stylists. There are many, many products available for at home use.
Some commercial products are sold exclusively in the salons that use them. They are usually of better quality than any run of the mill product that someone can buy at the dollar store. There are different kinds of brushes, also. There are brushes with short or long bristles, close or widely spread apart bristles. They are usually made differently because the hair is unique to the person. Some types of brushes have bristles that are very close together while others have them very far apart. There are some people who prefer to use a comb. It is important to keep it moist, clean and so that it does not break or turn brittle.
Someone who is pursuing this as a career can choose from several options when deciding what direction they want to go in. Working in a spa may also require some education and knowledge in electrolysis and hair removal. A salon may require good dying and styling skills while a barber shop will be most interested in cutting and shaving. It is easy to decide where you want to go based on the extras they provide.
Treating the scalp properly is just as important as keeping the hair clean and strong. Having clean, healthy scalp skin will promote healthy hair production. The cuticle of the shaft that attaches to the scalp should be strong and healthy for proper growth.
Hair that is not kept clean will succumb to problems like dandruff, bacterial infections and chemical reactions. The dead skin must be removed on a regular basis. One of the best ways to do this besides washing is to brush it at least once or twice a day with at least 100 strokes. This helps to move the oils from the scalp through the rest and to the tips.
One extremely common ailment of the scalp is head lice. This is actually a worldwide issue. Contrary to what is typically believed, head lice thrive in clean hair. They are not attracted by poor hygiene but are actually drawn to clean skin.
The body has its own natural form of hair care, processes that the body goes through to make sure it stays long and strong. There is a protective cover that rests on the surface of the scalp to keep it safe. It is good to keep in mind that you are not really washing your hair, you are washing your scalp to keep it clean the same way you would wash any other skin on your body.
