If you ask any of the successful bodybuilders they will tell you that they too started out in bodybuilding without a clue on how to perform the different training routines and were unaware of the principles of bodybuilding.
I bet you are surprised to hear that bodybuilding has its own fundamental principles. Bodybuilding is a discipline and just like any other discipline there has to be a set of rules to follow for you to succeed. This article will put you on a self discovery path so that you can be able to discover the principles which govern the fine sport of bodybuilding. There are four principles which guide bodybuilding and they include, proper dieting, proper training, aerobics and getting sufficient rest.
These principles should be followed as follows;
1. Eat proper nutrition
If you want to gain muscles you have to pay adequate attention to the calories you take. If you are a hard gainer the calories you take should be more than what you are burning. When deciding on the calories to take you need to ensure that you do not consume junk food. The quality of calories you take really matter and you should therefore ensure you eat real food and not junk. If you want quality calories then you need to take plenty of proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fat. Foods contain rich proteins include; whey protein, lean beef, poultry, eggs, fish and dairy products.
Foods containing quality carbohydrates include; potatoes, rice, whole grain breads and beans. Healthy fats are found in flaxseed oil, avocadoes, olive oil and raw nuts.
2. Train properly
Your training program needs to be complete if you want to gain muscles. The training program of someone who wants to lose weight is usually different from the training technique of someone who wants to gain weight. If your intention is to gain weight then you need to practice strength training in your program. This involves using free weights, press, shoulder press, pull-ups (wide grip), and dips. The frequency of training and the amount of weights you are going to use need to be customized so that they can go with your body type.
You need to understand that when you train to often this will have a negative effect on muscle gaining. The body strength is increased during the repairing stage and not during the actual workout. Therefore you need to give your body enough recovery time otherwise you will lose the muscles which you had already acquired.
3. Do aerobic exercises.
The aerobic exercises will help maintain sound cardio vascular health. You should however not perform aerobic exercises for a long period of time since it will lead to catabolism. You need to undertake warm up exercises as well because they help the body muscles respond more to the stress training. Warm up exercises are also very good for the heart muscles which are usually weakened as a person ages. The best aerobic exercises include; jogging, cycling, horse riding, walking, treadmill, swimming, skating, step classes, stair climbing, and mountain climbing.
4. Rest
You also need to rest so that you do not lose all the muscles you had already acquired.
