Natural teeth do not last a lifetime so when you lose a tooth, especially one that is in the front, you become frantic. You will have to cover your mouth every time you open your mouth to talk, smile or eat. Today, you have various options for the replacement of the lost tooth or teeth. You have the bridge, denture or implant.
A bridge may work fine for duration of few years. When the surrounding teeth become problematic (loosened or fall-out), your bridge joins in the problems. Will you need to change your bridge when the neighboring tooth is extracted? Naturally because if not, you will have spaces in between teeth and this condition will stop you from smiling and talking, not to mention the difficulty when chewing and biting your food.
As for denture, this has been the common traditional way of replacing the teeth. With denture, you may not be able to eat and speak naturally. As the dentures occasionally slips, this can cause you to slur some words. Biting and chewing food is also difficult as you do not do these with natural teeth. You are even adamant to bite on hard solid foods for fear that the dentures may break. And there are unfitted dentures that will make you rely on messy adhesives and glues. The dentures had to stick to your gums thus there is a need to use adhesives. And most wearers of denture had to take these false teeth when they sleep at night.
And what can be said about dental implants? Well, if you can afford the high cost of this method, then this is the best. Unlike the bridge, there is no need for support from the surrounding teeth. The implant is done differently. As the word implies, the replacement tooth is secured directly to the jaw bone – implanted. Thus the artificial tooth will look and feel natural. As similar to a natural tooth, you can also eat and speak in your natural way.
Statistics proves the reliability of the dental implant. The results are amazing and the success rate is very remarkable. Unlike the bridge and the dentures, the dental implant can last you a lifetime, when taken care of properly. And how do you do the dental implant maintenance? As this is like a natural tooth, you have to maintain it as you do with your real inborn tooth. You have to observe proper dental hygiene which includes brushing and flossing. The artificial teeth from dental implants are durable. The implants are not recognizable so friends and other people will not suspect that you had undergone the process. They are fixed to your jaw and they are as natural as your real teeth.
Those who had undergone the dental implant assert that the tooth replacement never caused any inconvenience. They smile, laugh, speak and eat as naturally as if there has been no artificial piece in the mouth. With dental implants, you can say good-bye to partial or full dentures and erratic bridge.
