Clearing Your Unhealthy Skin

The health of your skin is the number one indicator of the health state that your body is in most of the time. There are many things that you will need to make sure you do in order to maintain good health and healthy, glowing skin.

Of course, many people turn to intensive skin care routines that are advertised on the television as miracle skin products. All too often these things take too much time and do not effectively work.

Fortunately, there are many things you can do that are simple, easy, and do not take very much time. If you are finding that these simple things are too hard to do, you may want to consider the fact that taking care of your skin can make you look years younger for much longer.

The first thing you will want to make sure that you do is protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun. These rays can cause a variety of undesirable skin conditions including wrinkles, freckles, age spots, and rough, dry skin.

These conditions will in turn cause bad acne breakouts that may result in scarring. Scarring can be pretty difficult to get rid of once you have it.

In addition, exposing your skin to the sun can create a variety of problems that could lead to death. For example, too much exposure to the sun can cause skin cancer.

It is very important that you avoid the sun during the hottest parts of the day whenever possible. This is because during this time of day, the rays of the sun are much more direct.

The times that you should usually stay indoors are those in between 10 am and 4 pm. If you do have to go out during these times of the day you will want to wear long sleeved, protective clothing.

Try to cover your skin as much as possible. Do not forget to wear a hat to protect your head.

On the parts of your skin that are exposed to the sun, you will want to wear sunscreen. This probably means your face, neck and hands.

Remember that the sunscreen will need to be reapplied after a couple of hours, heavy sweating, or getting wet. In addition, it needs to be worn in the winter even if you cannot see the sun.

Another thing that can have a severely negative impact on your skin is smoking. Smoking enhances wrinkles and makes your skin look older than it is faster.

It does this by narrowing the blood vessels that are closest to the top layers of your skin. With the lower blood flow through these blood vessels, the outer layer of skin is not able to receive the nutrients and oxygen that it needs to replenish itself and heal itself.

This bad habit also damages the collagen and elastin found within the skin. Collagen and elastin are responsible for making the skin elastic and strong so it is not as easily damaged.

If that were not enough, you contribute to the wrinkles through the repetitive facial expressions you make when smoking as well. With all of these negative consequences, there is little you can do to save your skin while you are smoking and it is better to quit.

After you quit smoking and regularly apply sunscreen, you will want to make sure that you treat your skin carefully with gentle products. Some facials cleaners are too harsh and cause more problems.

Hot water and long showers can also contribute to dry skin. However, you do want to wash your face with warm water and a mild cleanser.

If the cleanser is too strong, you will not have any oil left on your face. Some oils are good and help your skin stay moist and healthy so you do not want to remove them all.

When you are done properly cleaning your face you will want to pat it dry. Do not rub your face hard or you could assist gravity in creating premature wrinkles.

In addition to cleaning your face properly, eating a healthy diet can have a huge impact on how healthy your skin and body are. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins as these things will help reduce the oil that is delivered to your skin.

Try to eliminate fats and carbohydrates as much as possible as these can contribute to unhealthy skin. It can help to clear your skin if your bring your stress levels under control.
