The first signs of aging are seen in the eyes. It is just unfortunate that one of the first things a person usually notices is the eyes, and one can easily judge you just by looking at them. Puffy eyelids and droopy bags under the eyes can allow one to look older his or her age. Problems around the eye area are related to lack of sleep, dehydration, or other health-related factors, and even genetics itself play a role in these eye issues.

Currently technology nowadays has come up with a solution for eye issues, especially targeted for those with congenital eye problems. This is called eyelid surgery. However, though originally targeted on patients with congenital defects, aiming to correct their eye issues, this is also popularly used today for beauty reasons.

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure designed to remove fat, along with excess skin and muscle, from both the upper and the lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can therefore correct drooping upper lids and puffiness below the eyes, which are among the characteristic features that make one look older and more tired that what he or she really is. This may even interfere with vision. However, this cannot be used to remove crow’s feet or other wrinkles, elimination of dark circles beneath the eyes, or as well in the lifting of sagging eyebrows. This can be used to add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, but your ethnic or racial heritage will not be concealed either. Blepharoplasty can be done alone or in combinations with other surgical interventions such as facelifts or brow lifts.

Aging reflects the effects of gravity, exposure to the sun, and the stress of daily life. Formation of deep creases will be noted between the nose and the mouth, while the jaw line becomes fleshy, baggy and jowly. In the neck area, what is most noticeable is the presence of folds and fat deposits. This add to the features of senescence, making one look old than what he or she really is.

A face lift cannot stop aging, but it delays it, working by the removal of excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin covering one’s face and neck. Similar to blepharoplasty, it can be done alone or in conjunction with other surgical procedures such as a forehead lift, an eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. A good face lift procedure will keep other people guessing about your right age. A good face lift can make help one become younger-looking, fresher, and more confident. However it is important to note that though it can improve one’s physical appearance, the level of health and vitality of youth remains as is. Thus it is still important to take the basic but necessary measures on skin care. Face lift or p blepharoplasty, whatever it is, remember that prior to deciding on any form of plastic or cosmetic surgery, carefully consider every aspect and take to think and talk about it with your doctor. Reflect on any of the possibilities and take it slowly. There may be a faster way to achieve beauty, but your doctor knows best as to what measure is ideal for yours.
