You may be familiar with many stress busters like meditation, deep breathing exercises and many other relaxation techniques that can help you manage stress in your daily life, but we will be checking out aromatherapy, and how this practice can help us in overcoming stress, lifting up our moods and helping our day-to-day living light and happy.
Aromatherapy for stress relief is a popular practice, although there are also many other uses of aromatherapy in our daily lives. Essential oils used in this practice also possess properties that fight fungal, bacterial and viral infections, but focusing on aromatherapy for stress relief, here are some reasons why you will love aromatherapy as a stress buster.
The practice of aromatherapy provides healing and relaxation from the scents of essential oils extracted from plants. If you are familiar with this practice, you will find different essential oils that give different scents and different healing properties to a person. Some scents and oils are also combined to provide a more relief and relaxation.
Whether you are having physical stress, mental stress or emotional stress, some essential oils used in aromatherapy serve as antidepressant, give you relief from tiredness and fatigue, relieves you from headaches, energizes and of course, gives a calming and refreshing effect.
Among the essential oils that can help relieve you from physical stress are chamomile, rosemary, lavender, thyme and bergamot. Lavender and bergamot are also good for mental stress together with basil, geranium and sandalwood.
To help lighten your mood and get over with anxiety, essential oils such as sandalwood, rosemary, petitgrain, rose, ylang ylang, geranium, jasmine, lemon and many others are helpful. Although you can a couple of these essential oils, it is important to seek guidance from an expert or you may do some research on what can be mixed together.
It is important to take note of some safety measures however when you are using aromatherapy for stress relief. Aside from watching what you mix, you have to make sure also to dilute these oils and mix them with carrier oils. Keep in mind that some plant extracts may be harmful if directly applied to the skin, thus it is indeed good to be informed first. If you want to be safe, you can also get your favorite essential oil in its diluted form in your favorite aromatherapy store.
You can either put a few drops of these in your bath, or you can use the diluted form in your massage. You can also put a few drops in your pillow, or even put it together with your fabric conditioner to freshen up and your newly washed clothes. You can also soak a piece of cotton ball in it and put it in a hidden part of your cabinets to make your cabinets and rooms smell refreshing and relaxing.
