The need to get rid of unwanted hairs in some or all parts of the body is a need that transcends age, sex or nationality. It is a known fact that many men and women in many different countries of the world are always on the lookout for ways to achieve a hairless skin. In the past, the usual methods were shaving, electrolysis and the likes. However, laser hair removal is a new technique which is very effective an efficient.

Notwithstanding, as effective as this technique is there are lots of rumors surrounding its application, efficacy and side effects. These myths had usually served as a deterrent for many people in their quest for getting a hairless skin. More so, while most of the myths are negative, there are a few positive ones which usually cause unrealistic expectations.

One of the popular myths holds that this technique is very painful to the patient. This myth probably stemmed from the fact that laser rays are known to be able to cut through metal when focused. However, the type of rays applied in the elimination of hairs is not as strong as the one applied for industrial uses.

Thus, there is really no massive pain associated with eliminating the hairs by this method. The only feeling that you will probably have is a mild tingling which will pass away within a couple of minutes. Yet, if you are still skeptical you can have the doctor give you an anesthetic so that you do not feel even the tingling.

Another popular myth is that the technique will in actual fact stimulate the growth of more hairs on the body instead of getting rid of it. This one probably stems from the fact that you may need to go for as many as ten sessions, each of which may last for up to sixty minutes before you can be free of all hairs on the body.

However, this is hardly the case. You will need to go for many sessions because the hairs on the body do not all grow at the same time. Thus, the many sessions are designed to target the hair that may have grown in between the sessions. More so, on the length of each session, the fact remains that there is no fixed time; the duration of the session can only be determined by the doctor.

Another myth holds that the technique is very expensive and thus many people may not be able to afford it. This may be true when the cost is contrasted against the cost of shaving the hair or removing it by electrolysis. However, the price is not always as expensive as people might want you to believe.

In fact, the price of laser hair removal varies from one location to another, thus what is expensive in a place may turn out to be cheap in another location. More so, it should be seen as an investment rather than a onetime purchase. This is because when you consider what it will cost you to shave over a decade you will find this method a cheaper alternative.
